The building of business education capacity for educators from monastic education schools and church-based community schools was successfully completed on 15 January 2023. Junior teachers from Yellow Generation Wave Monastic Education School (YGW) and the Hanson Church-based School were taught business skills and facilitation abilities over the course of this eight-month project from May 2022 to January 2023. In addition, instructors from other field partners, such as the Entrepreneurship Development Center (Ngwe Saung), the Youth Language Center (Myitkyina), and the Mao Ban Mai Shan Online Language Center (Namkham) also participated in the TOT program.
The program consisted of the following key components.
Phase 1: Entrepreneurship education and a Basic Business Knowledge (BBK) course for participants
Phase 2: BBK TOT in Yangon
Phase 3: Preparing for class and the mentoring course
Phase 4: BBK course delivery in the field
Phase 5: Prize award to startup business led by teen trainees
Phase 6: Program improvement and M&E through the project
16 facilitators (12 from faith-based schools and 4 from training centers) thrivingly graduated from the program and 229 teens and youths received the BBK course delivered by the above-mentioned facilitators.
EDNA is honored to learn that the Hanson Church-based school has adopted the BBK course as part of its curriculum and plans to continue the BBK course in the following years. YGW (Pathein Branch) also intends to incorporate BBK as part of their extracurricular activity.
