Dr Jarrod Ormiston is Assistant Professor in Social Entrepreneurship in the Maastricht Centre for Entrepreneurship (MC4E) at the School of Business and Economics, Maastricht University. Jarrod’s teaching activities focus on social/sustainable entrepreneurship and strategy.
Jarrod’s action research involves various activities in Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar with the Entrepreneurship Development Network Asia (EDNA) focused on scaling the impact of social enterprises and supporting entrepreneurship in the informal economy. He also works with social enterprises across various sectors on how to enhance their impact. Jarrod’s PhD explored the role of impact assessment in social entrepreneurship and social impact investment. His research interests include social entrepreneurship, social innovation and social impact investment, refugee entrepreneurship, Indigenous entrepreneurship and innovative pedagogies in entrepreneurship education.
Prior to his work at the Maastricht University, Jarrod worked as a lecturer at the University of Sydney, as an analyst in Growth Solutions at Deloitte and in various management roles in the Australian and Latin American nonprofit and education sectors. Jarrod has also worked as a consultant to the Australian Government and OECD on entrepreneurship and education.
